Arranging Hospital Transport

Patients requiring transport to Torbay Hospital

If you need transport to get to an outpatient appointment at the hospital, for instance, then this can be arranged by phoning Patient Transport enquiry line on 01803 656777 between 9am and 3pm weekdays (not Bank Holidays).  Please note that there is a charge for this service.

The Hospital Car Service is for patients who have no other way of getting to their hospital appointment because they:

  • Are unable to use public transport, and
  • Have no other available form of transport including family, friends and neighbours, but
  • Are able to get in and out of a saloon car with the assistance of only one person.

Booking requests need to be received at least 48 hours before the day of travel to a hospital appointment.  Transport for follow up appointments should be requested at the hospital when your follow up appointment is arranged.

Patients requiring transport to other hospitals or services

For transport services outside of the Torbay area, please call the Devon and Plymouth transport team on 0345 155 1009

Community transport is provided by a network of voluntary organisations that help people get to the shops, services, medical appointments or leisure activities where no alternative or suitable transport is available. This may be because of rural seclusion, or for disabled or elderly passengers who cannot access or use public transport.  For more information please visit https://www.traveldevon.info/accessibility/community-transport/
